Harbor City Restaurant in Chinatown/International District, 707 S. King St., has been sold to the Ma brothers, who have added dim sum to its menu.
A re-opening
After closing for one year, Green Village Restaurant in Chinatown/International District has reopened on Nov. 10 at its same location, 516 6th Ave. S., Seattle.
Uwajimaya celebrated 80 years
Uwajimaya has celebrated 80 years with stores in Bellevue, Beaverton, and its 66,000 square foot flagship in the International District of Seattle. To commemorate the occasion, Seattle City Councilmember Bruce Harrell presented Tomio Moriguchi with a proclamation during the Oct. 20 meeting of the full council at City Hall. It was proclaimed that Monday, Oct. 20, 2008 was Uwajimaya Day in Seattle!
Beijing after the Olympics, is still wonderful
The best time to visit Beijing is now ? Cheaper hotels, less traffic, nicer weather. There is also an opportunity to get a sense of the Olympics before it?s too late.
There’s a new market in town
Its namesake is. Likewise, Hong Kong Market (HKM) is a straightforward grocery store that opened Nov. 1 in Kent, attracting many Asian families in the surrounding neighborhoods.
Revamping a food icon
No need to worry over what happened to the China Gate Restaurant. It was only closed for 10 days. It has since been reopened on Oct. 26, newly remodeled. It still serves dim sum and Chinese cuisine. Its lounge is currently in full operation.

Beard Papas brings an Asian twist to a Western dessert. Try one of their green tea cream puffs. Walk into the store in Uwajimayas food court and find all the chefs smartly dressed, preparing rich, fluffy and yummy cream puffs with machine-like efficiency.

The beginning of September marked the start of the spring/summer runways showcasing fashion for the next year. The fashion capitals of the world — New York, Paris, Milan — are taking note of all the upcoming trends and everything will eventually precipitate in next year’s Vogues.

I have been involved in it my whole life. Naturally, I have tested plenty of products out there and have grown to love many. There are even some I can hardly live without. Some are from your local Nordstrom and others are just a trot down to the local drug store. I love mixing and matching, and any time there’s a bargain I am a happy camper.
