Last year was the first year the celebration was held outside of King Street Station and into the ID.
ID alleys beware: compost bins are moving in and taking over
Owners of 25 restaurants and businesses are kicking the stink of communal dumpsters by enrolling in the City of Seattle Compost Collection service. Food scraps are collected in 60-gallon, 8-yard containers and hauled to Cedar Grove Organics Recycling, LLC for composting.
Historic hotel spruces up to become mini United Nations
For $35 per night, international travelers and students will be able to sleep in one of 320 beds at the American Hotel.
“There will be some opportunity for extended stay lodging,” said Eagle Rock Ventures co-owner Scott Shapiro. “You have all the amenities here and the transit hub with light rail coming in two weeks before we open. It’s pretty perfect for travelers.”

American Hotel Building sold
American Hotel Building, LLC has acquired the historic American Hotel Building in the International District and plans to provide workforce housing, student housing, and international hostelling once the current tenant and former owner, Union Gospel Mission, vacates the property at the end of June 2009.
