Doctors awarded for bettering the community
The Bank of America Charitable Foundation announced two Puget Sound area nonprofits, five community leaders and five local high school students as recipients of the Neighborhood Excellence Initiative (NEI) Neighborhood Builder award. The winners were given their awards Oct. 30 at a ceremony at McCaw Hall for their ongoing efforts in bettering the Puget Sound community.

UW Bothell campus Chancellor Dr. Kenyon Chan was the keynote speaker of Puget Sound Connections with director of the Urban Center Enterprise of the Greater Seattle Chamber of Commerce Skip Rowland and President of Antioch University Dr. Cassandra Manuelito-Kerkvliet on Sept. 24 at the Seattle Art Museum.

The Washington state chapter of the Korean American Coalition (KAC) presented CEO of Paldo World Brian Park and KoreAm Journal Editor-in-Chief James Y. Ryu the Rocky Kim Pioneer Awards at the 2008 KAC National Convention Gala Dinner, Sept. 26.

Jolene Jang, a fun specialist, has been elected as the chapter president of National Speakers Association (NSA) for 2008-2009. Founded in 1984, NSA Northwest is a community of speakers on a wide range of topics. Their professional members have qualified to this status by presenting professionally for five years and earning over a certain amount from speaking.
