Former U.S. Labor Secretary Elaine Chao campaigned for senatorial candidate Dino Rossi last Friday, raising more than $30,000.
Chao, a consultant for the Heritage Foundation, is still popular among Asians and non-Asians. Many requested photos with her over the chance to be photographed with Rossi. One guest said she was a smoother and more effective speaker than Rossi. Even though she is soft-spoken and unimposing, her persuasive ability is powerful because you absorb her words without knowing it. She attended a lunch at China Harbor Restaurant, press conference at Uwajimaya, and later, dinner at the House of Hong Restaurant. ♦
Elaine Chao looks much younger in person with her “Republican Do” LOL! She was a quiet presence in the Bush administration. If anything, she did represent Asian America during the Bush years, for better or worse, a token representative.
