To the Editor:
I read (an ad) in your recent issue of Northwest Asian Weekly that Uwajimaya is offering public participation to help design a future grocery bag. I’m not a creative commercial artist, but I am pleading that Uwajimaya executives will retain the current slogan and logo.
More than a decade ago, the American Diabetes Association, the WA Asian Diabetes Coalition [sic], [University of Washington] Professor Wil Fujimoto, and I proposed [that logo and slogan] to [Uwajimaya], and it was graciously approved. It has gone through millions of bag reprints, and we all benefit from that message. Thus, we are asking openly again, please keep that powerful public message forever.
