Bumbershoot performers dance like drumming
Morning rainfalls and cold weather couldn’t keep people away from the 39th annual Bumbershoot Music and Arts Festival at Seattle Center this past Labor Day weekend, which was held on Sept. 5 through Sept. 7. The Refugee Women’s Alliance (ReWA) had its open house at its new location on Maynard Avenue South. Aside from three other locations in Seattle, the agency recently expanded its office in the International District. Approximately 100 people attended. ReWA is a nonprofit, multi-ethnic organization that provides refugee and immigrant women and families with culturally appropriate services.
Sept. 2: South Asian Americans in Obama administration honored
The North American South Asian Bar Association (NASABA) and the South Asian Bar Association of Washington, D.C. (SABA-DC) honored the South Asian Americans appointed to President Barack Obama’s administration at an event held in Washington, D.C. The Obama White House has tapped more South Asian Americans to serve in the administration than any other administration in history. Nearly 200 people attended.
