Huy Pham, executive director of Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation (APIAHiP), was unanimously confirmed by the Seattle City Council last week to serve on the International Special Review District (ISRD) Board, which oversees historic preservation and development in the Chinatown International District (CID).
Pham’s appointment runs through Dec. 31, 2027. The ISRD Board has seven members: five elected by the CID community and two appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the City Council. Members generally serve two-year terms.
Pham brings a background in historic preservation and community advocacy to the position. Born in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and raised in San Diego, he returned to the West Coast in 2021 as preservation programs director for the Washington Trust for Historic Preservation. He previously spent four years in San Antonio working in preservation outreach and regulatory work. He holds degrees in architecture, historic preservation and communication studies from Ball State University.
Pham is now the executive director of APIAHiP, a national nonprofit focused on preserving historic places and cultural resources significant to Asian and Pacific Islander Americans.
