Businesses in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District (CID) are asking the community to show its support by gathering for a free World Cup watch party Monday evening at Hing Hay Park, where fans can cheer on the United States as it takes on Belgium while supporting one of the city’s historic neighborhoods.

The “Kick It in the CID” Watch Party, hosted by the Chinatown-International District Business Improvement Area, begins with doors opening at 4 p.m. ahead of the 5 p.m. kickoff. Organizers hope visitors will arrive early or stay after the match to dine, shop and explore local businesses throughout the district.
The event comes as many small businesses continue working to attract customers and remind Seattle residents that the neighborhood remains a vibrant destination for food, culture and community gatherings.
Monday’s gathering is just one of a series of public World Cup events designed to bring visitors back to the CID throughout the summer.
A quarterfinal watch party is scheduled for July 10 at Hing Hay Park, giving fans another chance to watch the tournament alongside neighbors and friends in the heart of the district.
The series concludes July 18 at Theatre Off Jackson with a watch party for the tournament’s final match, followed by a screening of the soccer-themed film Bend It Like Beckham.
Admission to all watch parties is free and open to the public.
