California Gov. Gavin Newsom hosted a celebration in recognition of Lunar New Year earlier this week in Sacramento.
Many Asian American Pacific Islander leaders were present.
Gavin made Lunar New Year a state holiday under a bill that he signed last September.
A similar proposal is underway in the state of Washington.
