The Washington State–India Trade Relations Action Committee (WASITRAC) hosted a reception to welcome India Ambassador to the United States Nirupama Rao on Sept. 13 at the Westin Seattle.
Rao was appointed ambassador in September 2011. Previously, she served as the second-ever woman Indian Foreign Secretary, the top diplomat for Indian foreign relations, from 2009 to 2011. She has previously served in the United States as Minister for Press and Cultural Affairs of the Indian Embassy from 1993 to 1995.
WASITRAC’s mission is to facilitate the building of bridges between Washington state and India. (end)
