A live band marched into Uwajimaya on the morning of Aug. 21 to surprise its CEO, Tomoko Moriguchi Matsuno, for her 68th birthday.
But on closer look, the 18-member band was dressed in real costumes but had fake instruments; the music was taped through a loudspeaker.
What a wonderful idea to surprise their dear friend Matsuno! Katherine Cheng, one of the organizers of the surprise, said that the idea began when they bought band costumes online two months ago. Other organizers are Marcia Katica and Nancy Abramson.
Matsuno’s actual birthday is Aug. 25. (end)
