The Refugee Women’s Alliance hosted its 2012 Gala on Friday, Sept. 14, celebrating a year of expansion, growth, and continued service.

Over the past year, ReWA has provided 611 seniors with nutritious and culturally appropriate meals; placed 220 refugees and immigrants in jobs; provided counseling to 358 refugees and immigrants suffering from trauma, PTSD, and culture shock; expanded their Domestic Violence Program; and helped over 1,000 homeless or at-risk refugees and immigrants find housing.

At the celebration, ReWA honored the people who had aided in their efforts, including Congressman Jim McDermott,  Representative Sharon Tomiko Santos, Theresa Wong, Representative Ross Hunter, and Ezra Teshome. (end)
