“One Hundred Years’ History of the Chinese in America” by James Leong (Photo from chsa.org)
A reproduction of the late James Leong’s mural, “One Hundred Years’ History of the Chinese in America,” will be featured prominently on a decorative building wrap covering San Francisco Chinatown’s subway station on July 14. That’s the good news.
The bad news is that the Chinese Historical Society of America (CHS), which possesses the 5 by 17.5 foot mural now exhibited at the YWCA building, has not informed or invited Leong’s wife Dean and son Bo, of Seattle, to join the ceremony. Leong was born in San Francisco’s Chinatown and moved to Seattle in 1991.
It’s still not too late for CHS to send an invitation to Leong’s family for this important event. It will mean a lot to the family. (end)
