Last month, former Washington State Representative and former Japanese American Citizens League Seattle Chapter President Kip Tokuda was awarded the Order of the Rising Sun. The award recognized his contribution to strengthening and promoting friendly relations between Japan and the United States and for promoting the Japanese culture and welfare of Japanese Americans. At the ceremony, congratulatory remarks were given by State Rep. Sharon Tomiko Santos. Consul General Kiyokazu Ota presented the award and Lieutenant Governor Brad Owen gave a toast.(end)
