The other day, I was surprised to see my senior Jewish friend shopping at Uwajimaya. He confessed that it was his first time shopping in the ID.
Last Christmas, I gave him a bottle of plum sake, knowing that he loves sake.
“My girlfriend told me to get some mushrooms,” he said.
Oh, really!
“That sake you gave me was delicious,” he said.
As we talked, we meandered to the sake aisle. The plum wine, looking tempting, happened to be nearby.
“I should get that,” he added.
My friend left Uwajimaya with both sake and wine.
Do mushrooms go well with sake? Hmmm! (end)
