As part of a citywide budget-cutting plan, all Seattle Public Library branches will be closed for one week. They will reopen Sept. 8.
In addition to about 700 employees not being paid, the closure also means that no materials will be due and no fines will accrue. Book drops will not be open, and there will be no access to the online library catalog or library website.
There will be no mobile library services, no quick-information telephone service, and no programs held in library meeting rooms.
The closure will save approximately $655,000. ♦
