Nigel Ng on stage with chef Kristi Brown at Town Hall Seattle on Nov 5, 2026.
Nigel Ng, better known as Uncle Roger, made a stop in Seattle on Thursday to promote his debut cookbook, “Don’t Mess Up Your Rice: 70 Recipes to Impress Uncle Roger.”
Presented by Town Hall Seattle, the event drew a packed crowd and got off to an enthusiastic start with a loud “FUIYOH!” shortly after Ng took the stage.
Chatting with local chef Kristi Brown, Ng answered questions from both Brown and the audience, covering everything from his favorite Malaysian food (chilli pan mee) to the inspiration behind his cookbook.

The book features a mix of techniques and recipes for everyday favorites, including “Uncle Roger’s Egg Fry Rice,” real sweet and sour pork, red bean soup and bubur cha cha.
Fans also got a chance to take home signed copies of the book. Some even came prepared with their own bottles of MSG for Ng to autograph.
Ng had another surprise for the audience: He recently filmed a video with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, set to be released in December. The two have a bit of internet history. Their online feud began in July 2020, when Uncle Roger posted a reaction video poking fun at Oliver’s egg fried rice tutorial. Now, it looks like the two have put their differences aside—at least long enough to make a video together.
