A fire that damaged a Seattle restaurant early Wednesday was accidental and likely caused by a pinched electrical wire that overheated and ignited nearby insulation and wooden framing, the Seattle Fire Department said.
Steven Nguyen, who runs the Seattle Foodie Facebook and Instagram pages, said he was “heartbroken” to hear the news.
The restaurant, Saigon Pho & Banh Mi located at 6519 4th Ave. S. in Georgetown, is known for its $15 pho and banh mi combination.
“Omg Noo!,” wrote one Instagram user. “The sweetest owners! I’m so sad for them. I hope they come back even stronger. Food is always a 10!”
Another person wrote, “I loved that place … the lady there was so sweet and always gave me extra stuff.”
The Seattle Fire Department said it received 911 calls just after 5 a.m. on Sept. 23 reporting smoke coming from the building.
Crews arrived within five minutes and found flames coming from the restaurant. People living in the apartment above were able to get out safely on their own.
The fire was contained to the restaurant and didn’t spread to the apartment above or the other businesses in the building.
No one was hurt.
