Consul General of Japan in Seattle Makoto Iyori and his wife, Yuko, left Seattle last Friday, Aug. 28 after two years and 10 months of service covering Washington, Montana and northern Idaho.
The couple marked the end of their assignment with a series of farewell gatherings, including a reception at their home Aug. 14. During the event, they reflected on the relationships they had built with people throughout the region and the ways the local Japanese community had shaped their experience.
The Consulate-General of Japan in Seattle expressed appreciation to the people who had helped make the Pacific Northwest feel like home for the Iyoris. A successor has not yet been named.
