North America’s largest night market is set to close after 26 years of bringing food, shopping and entertainment to Richmond, British Columbia.

The Richmond Night Market, a summer tradition in the Vancouver area, will hold its final night on Sept. 20. Organizers said the decision comes after the market’s lease ended, bringing the current chapter of the event to a close.
“The decision comes as the market’s lease has come to an end, bringing this chapter of the Richmond Night Market to a close,” organizers said in a statement Wednesday.
Founded in 2000 by Raymond Cheung, an immigrant from Hong Kong, the market grew into one of the region’s most popular summer attractions, drawing visitors from all over, including the Seattle area, with its mix of Asian-inspired street food, retail vendors and cultural performances.
Over the years, the market became known for its large-scale setup, featuring hundreds of food offerings, more than 100 retail vendors and attractions such as live entertainment and a 600-foot zipline overlooking the grounds.
Organizers have not confirmed whether the Richmond Night Market will return at another location.
