Reported crime in Seattle’s West Precinct, which includes the Chinatown-International District (CID), remained essentially unchanged through the first half of the year, according to the Seattle Police Department’s June safety newsletter.
While overall crime was flat compared with the same period in 2025, violent crime increased 9.2%, driven by a 28% rise in robberies and a 5% increase in aggravated assaults. Property crime rose 2.1%, although motor vehicle thefts fell 10.1%.
Larceny-theft remained the precinct’s most common reported crime with 2,601 offenses, followed by burglary with 967 cases and simple assault with 876.
Police also reported an 11% increase in shots fired. At the same time, 911 calls in the West Precinct rose 5%, while proactive officer activity increased 8% year over year.
The update comes as Seattle continues to host FIFA World Cup matches. The CID, located next to the Stadium District and Seattle Stadium (Lumen Field), has seen increased foot traffic from fans traveling to and from the games. Police said officers have been assigned throughout the area to direct traffic, manage crowds and support public safety during World Cup events and other major summer gatherings.
To improve visibility in large crowds, Seattle police officers have also begun wearing high-visibility neon summer uniform shirts during World Cup matches and other major events.
