Ahead of the Aug. 4 primary election, King County Elections has expanded voter access by installing five new official ballot drop boxes, bringing the countywide total to 90.
The new drop boxes are located at Seattle Central Library, Northgate Library, Bellevue College, Skykomish Community Center and the Kent-Kangley Safeway in Kent. County officials recently marked the opening of the Northgate Library location and announced plans to expand the network to 100 drop boxes before the November general election.

The King County Council recently approved funding for 10 additional ballot drop boxes and security enhancements, including upgraded fire suppression systems and real-time monitoring technology designed to detect unauthorized access or tampering.
King County voters have until July 27 to register online or by mail for the Aug. 4 primary and special election, which will be conducted entirely by mail. Eligible voters may register or update their registration online through VoteWA or by mailing a voter registration form before the deadline. Those who miss the deadline may still register in person through Election Day at a King County vote center.
Ballots must be returned to an official ballot drop box or postmarked by Election Day, Aug. 4. According to King County Elections, more than 66% of voters returned their ballots using official drop boxes in the November 2025 election. Information on voter registration, ballot drop box locations and vote centers is available through King County Elections.
These are candidates on the King County ballot only. If we’ve missed anyone, please let us know at newstips@nwasianweekly.com.
