Longtime Seattle Mariners radio broadcaster Rick Rizzs was honored Friday at a sold-out retirement luncheon celebrating more than four decades as the voice of the Mariners.
The event, hosted by the RBI Club at Anthony’s Pier 66, featured tributes from civic leaders, former Mariners executives and community members.

King County Councilmember Claudia Balducci presented a proclamation recognizing Rizzs for his charitable contributions and service to the community. Cindy Wong, representing the City of Seattle, presented a proclamation declaring July 10, 2026, as “Rick Rizzs Day.”
A visibly emotional Rizzs thanked attendees after receiving the honors.
The luncheon was emceed by Mona Lee Locke, with Harold Taniguchi serving as auctioneer. Among the speakers were former Mariners President Chuck Armstrong and former Gov. Gary Locke, who reflected on Rizzs’ broadcasting career and impact on the Seattle community.
