Travel at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is growing just like our region. To meet future needs and support a great traveler experience, the Port of Seattle proposed a plan to guide future development of SEA. The Sustainable Airport Master Plan (SAMP) includes 31 Near-Term Projects designed to improve safety, efficiency, access, and passenger experience at SEA in the coming years.
Benefits to you and the region
The proposed projects include improvements that support daily airport operations. These upgrades would help reduce crowding, improve on-time performance, and ensure the airport can operate smoothly and reliably as travel demand increases.
SEA is one of the largest employment sites in King County, supporting tens of thousands of airport jobs and many more throughout the region. By improving airport facilities and operations, the projects help maintain reliable access for employees, airlines, and airport services.
The investments from SAMP would also help improve traffic around the airport and strengthen connections to the regional transportation network, benefiting travelers and nearby communities.
How to Get Involved
All of the projects are currently being evaluated to understand their potential environmental effects and how to address them under Washington’s State Environmental Policy Act. Now’s the time to get involved and submit an official public comment.
Your detailed comment helps the Port of Seattle make informed decisions about what’s next for your airport. Learn about what the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) found and share what matters to you. You can review the DEIS online or at several in-person locations. Another great way to understand what’s in the DEIS is to attend a public meeting or join a virtual meeting.
