Seattle police arrested a 52-year-old man on Thursday morning in the Chinatown-International District (CID) after an officer spotted him carrying what appeared to be a concealed knife and later learned he had an outstanding assault warrant.
The arrest happened around 1:20 a.m. in the 600 block of Fifth Avenue. According to police, the man was seen with a fixed-blade knife in a makeshift sheath on his hip and tried to hide it as he walked away.
Officers stopped him for questioning and found he had a $5,000 warrant for assault. He was taken into custody on the warrant and on suspicion of unlawfully carrying a dangerous weapon.
Police booked the man into the King County Jail. Detectives with the General Investigations Unit are assigned to the case.
