Iran team is ‘coming for sure’ to 2026 World Cup in U.S., says FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Iran is slated to play Egypt on June 26 at Lumen Field, which will be renamed Seattle Stadium during the event.
But amid the U.S.-Iran war, Iran’s participation in the tournament has remained up in the air.
” Infantino told CNBC’s Sara Eisen at CNBC’s Invest in America Forum on Tuesday in Washington, D.C.
“We hope that by then, of course, the situation will be a peaceful situation, that would definitely help… But Iran has to come, of course. They represent their people. They have qualified. The players want to play.”
If Iran were to advance in the tournament, its future games would likely be held in the U.S.
