The Tacoma City Council voted Tuesday to begin contract negotiations with Hyun Kim to become city manager.
Kim is currently interim city manager for the City of Tacoma. He previously served as deputy city manager in Tacoma and as city manager in Fife, Washington.
The city manager serves as the city’s chief executive, overseeing daily operations, a $4.7 billion biennial budget and more than 4,000 employees. A final agreement would require council approval.
