Cathay Post 186 hosted a teleconference on March 1, connecting University of Washington (UW) ROTC cadets with NASA astronaut and Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jonny Kim for a conversation about leadership and service.
Cadets from UW’s Army, Navy, and Air Force ROTC programs joined the discussion, asking Kim about his experiences and his views on leadership, humility, and empathy in military service.
After the call, members of Cathay Post 186 met the cadets for lunch to continue the conversation and build connections with the future officers.
Air Force ROTC senior cadet Huy Tran, who helped coordinate the event, thanked Kim and the post for the opportunity.
“Thank you to Jonny Kim and Cathay Post #186 for making this incredible opportunity possible, bringing Army, Navy, and Air Force cadets together to gain powerful lessons on service, leadership, and resilience,” Tran said.
The lunch was supported by a Local Heroes Grant from Gesa Credit Union.
