Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson is looking to appoint a new member to the International Special Review District (ISRD) Board—and she’s inviting community members with a strong connection to Seattle’s Chinatown-International District (CID) to apply.
The open position is one of two mayoral appointments on the seven-member board, which reviews exterior building changes, new construction and street improvements in the CID. The board’s work helps ensure development respects the neighborhood’s historic character, cultural heritage and day-to-day life.
Applicants with an architectural background, experience in historic preservation and ties to the CID are especially encouraged to apply. Applicants must be Seattle residents. Board members serve on a volunteer basis.
Meetings are held twice a month, on the second and fourth Tuesdays, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Meetings typically last one to three hours, with members committing about five to six hours per month. Sessions are held both in person and virtually, and members may also serve on committees.
Letters of interest and resumes are due by Monday, March 2, 2026. Applications should be emailed to rebecca.frestedt@seattle.gov with “International Special Review District” in the subject line. Paper submissions may be mailed to Rebecca Frestedt, International Special Review District, Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, P.O. Box 94649, Seattle, WA 98124-4649.
