Help is available for people whose homes were damaged by last month’s historic flooding. Starting today, Washington residents can apply for a share of $2.5 million in state disaster assistance to help cover immediate recovery needs.
Gov. Bob Ferguson said the funding is part of $3.5 million released through his disaster declaration. The first $1 million has already been distributed by the state Department of Social and Health Services as Disaster Cash Assistance to more than 2,600 households over five days.
“While we work to apply for federal assistance to obtain more extensive relief, this flexible state funding will help people deal with their immediate needs in the aftermath of this crisis,” Ferguson said.
Residents affected by flooding between Dec. 5 and Dec. 22, 2025, are encouraged to submit an Unmet Needs Assessment Form through SAHelp.org, by phone or in person. The Salvation Army is partnering with the state to manage applications and connect households with recovery resources, including Household Needs Grants for short-term housing, minor home repairs and food replacement.
To qualify, applicants must live in King, Snohomish, Skagit or Whatcom counties, earn 80% or less of the area median income, and show their primary residence was destroyed or seriously damaged. Additional counties may be added as damage assessments continue.
In-person help is available at Disaster Assistance Centers in King and Snohomish counties starting today. Applicants should be prepared to provide documentation, and submitting a form does not guarantee funding.
