John Yang, longtime host of PBS News Weekend, has departed PBS following the conclusion of the program.
The show aired its final episode on Sunday, Jan. 11, after which PBS announced plans to introduce two new programs to fill the weekend time slot.
During Friday’s broadcast of PBS NewsHour, Yang shared that he would be stepping away from PBS later this month as he moves away from full-time work.
Co-anchor Amna Nawaz offered a warm tribute, thanking Yang for his leadership and praising the team’s impactful storytelling and consistent coverage of major news events, saying he would be deeply missed.
