The 6-pound, 12-ounce boy named Thomas Robert Sanders, who measured in at 20 inches long, was delivered three-and-a-half hours after his parents arrived at the hospital.
Thomas was also the first baby born in the New Year within Providence Swedish’s six hospital system, which have childbirth centers in the Puget Sound region.
When asked how they chose their newborn son’s name, Nathan said, “In addition to Thomas being one of the 12 Apostles, it’s also my grandfather’s name. And we picked Robert as his middle name since that was the name of Denise’s great and great-great grandfathers. The proud father added, “Thomas is a quarter Chinese, so we have also given him a Chinese name, which is 易信德.”
Thomas joins the couple’s almost 3-year-old son, Micah.
In 2025, 2,153 babies were born at Providence Swedish Issaquah.
