On Jan. 7, Councilmember Lorena González became the unanimously-elected president of Seattle City Council and the first pregnant president in its history.
González will be leaving for maternity leave starting Jan. 13 and returning on March 23.
Her colleague, Theresa Mosqueda, is also currently on maternity leave. In González’s absence, the council will have interim council presidents.
