Uyeta Landscape and Maintenance, Inc. of Renton was named the Workforce Small Business of the Year at the King County Executive’s Small Business Awards 2016 on Oct. 26.
Over 200 small business owners, entrepreneurs, and supporters of small business from across the county attended and showed their support for this year’s finalists and winners.
Uyeta Landscape was founded in 1967 by Kazumi Uyeta, who immigrated from Kochi, Japan. His son, Eddie, now runs the business. The company was honored for its education initiative developed in collaboration with the Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Highline School District’s Puget Sound Skills Center, to fill the need of a skilled labor force.
