Chef Nongkran Daks discussed the art of Thai cooking and techniques essential to understanding Thai food, as seen in her bestselling cookbook, Nong’s Thai Kitchen.
The talk, at Seattle’s Kinokuniya store on Sept. 10, was proceeded by a live demonstration in Uwajimaya market, on how to pick a pineapple and carve it.
A native of southern Thailand, Daks’ most popular dish is pad thai, and she proved her mastery when she won Food Network’s Pad Thai Throwdown! challenge against celebrity chef, Bobby Flay.
Daks is the executive chef and owner of the Thai Basil restaurant in Chantilly, Va.
