State Sen. Pramila Jayapal received the Crayon Award for her work on services and programs for kids from birth to age 5.
The award, from the Early Learning Action Alliance, was presented at an Aug. 16 event and attended by families from throughout the greater Seattle area.
“All our children should have the skills and resources to thrive, no matter what neighborhood they grow up in,” said Jayapal. Advocates of early learning believe that investments in the first years of a child’s life are critical to closing the gap for children starting out with fewer opportunities.
