In Little Saigon, new affordable apartments are proposed for families and individuals on a property owned by the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI). Approximately 80 units ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments will be built at 1253 S. Jackson St.
The design for the building’s storefront place at street level includes shared community space for community gatherings, events, exhibits and programs.
Office space for LIHI will be located in back of the community space, and parking will be located below.
Michele Wang of Runberg Architecture Group is the architect. A contractor has not yet been selected. Construction is planned for February 2018, with completion in late winter 2019.
Information on the project will be available at the IDEA space open house on Aug. 11, from 4–6 p.m. at Nisei Vets Hall.
