The Seattle Chinatown International District Preservation & Development Authority (SCIDpda) presented the results of its pilot project around unreinforced masonry buildings (URMs) and the Rental Registration and Inspection Ordinance (RRIO) on June 29 at IDEA space. URMs are buildings typically built prior to 1940.
At the workshop, participants got an overview of SCIDpda’s project results, its next steps, and the current status of the proposed seismic retrofit ordinance.
The Northwest Asian Weekly did a three-part series on these vulnerable buildings in Chinatown last month.
