Sophia Liu came out on top on June 18, at the Alaska Airlines Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon. She finished in 2:51:46.
Originally from Tianjin, China, Liu came to the United States in 2009, and she’s no stranger to running or winning. Liu won the Seattle Marathon in 2014 and 2015.
Liu, a research scientist on aging muscles with the University of Washington, attributed her victories to the support from friends, family, and fellow runners at the Seattle Running Club.
The Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon attracted more than 20,000 entrants.
