The Seattle City Council voted unanimously on June 6 to rename a park after Donnie Chin.
The park, at 700 S. Lane St., will be renamed Donnie Chin International Children’s Park, in honor of the late community leader who was shot and killed last July. His murder remains unsolved.
Chin was instrumental in the founding and building of the park in 1981.
City policy requires that a person be deceased for at least three years before a park can be named in his or her honor, but the city made an exception in this case.
