On Jan. 13, Washington state Gov. Jay Inslee attended the 9th Annual Korean American Day reception in Olympia. The event recognized achievements of Korean Americans in Washington state and was coordinated by the Commission on Asian Pacific American Affairs (CAPAA).
Senate Bill 5166, declaring Jan. 13 Korean American day, was signed into law in 2007.
It commemorates the arrive of the first Korean immigrants to the United States on Jan. 13, 1903. (end)
