Travelers on the First Hill Streetcar were able to ride for free on Saturday, Jan. 23, during a promotional service period. Conceived as a link between Seattle’s Link Light Rail at its Capitol Hill station and King Street Station adjacent to the International District, the First Hill Streetcar has undergone testing over the last several months to ensure the streetcars are safe to use.
Streetcars run every 10–15 minutes and cost $2.25 per adult per fare. Day passes are $4.50 for adults, and the streetcars accept payment through ORCA cards or through a paper ticket purchased at pay stations on streetcar platforms. Children 5 and under ride for free.
According to its website, a grand opening and community celebration will follow the promotional service period in the coming weeks. (end)
