Rita Meher
Rita Meher, co-founder of Tasveer, a Seattle-based South Asian cultural organization, was honored Sept. 26, 2015 as Globalist of the Year by Seattle Globalist at their 3rd annual Globies.
Meher co-founded Tasveer (meaning “picture” in Hindi and Urdu) in 2002 with Farah Nousheen. Since then, the organization has grown to affect the broader Northwest community in its work of fostering, developing, curating, and displaying thought-provoking work from and about South Asia.
“It’s an honor to have my work recognized,” says Meher. “It is still so important to bring attention to important social issues and spark conversation in the community through artistic expression.”
Tasveer’s mission is to cultivate the artistic work of South Asians through films, forums, visual art, and performances. (end)
