Maj. Gen. Michael K. Nagata is stepping down as commander of American Special Operations forces in the Middle East. He was responsible for a program that trained approximately a few dozen fighters assigned to train and equip Syrian rebels. Nagata served in Special Operations for more than two years. According to The New York Times, he is in line to be awarded a third star to lieutenant general and take a senior position at the National Counterterrorism Center. The decision is not final. (end)
