NAAAP-Seattle had a unique celebration of Asian-Pacific American Heritage Month and helped raise funds for the earthquake victims of Nepal on May 15. The event started off with a mixer at Eastern Café.
Afterwards, Dr. Connie So, Senior Lecturer at the University of Washington’s American Ethnic Studies department, presented on stereotypes of API Americans in the US media. A documentary, Bolinao 52, was shown depicting the struggles of Vietnamese boat people during the end of the Vietnam War. (end)
