“Building the Beloved” had a community gala on Saturday, September 27, at the Washington State Convention Center. The event raised over $345,000 for El Centro de la Raza’s programs and services. Approximately 1,000 people attended. Asian Counseling and Referral Center’s executive director Diane Narasaki, Lisa Daugaard, and Daniel Kogita were presented with the Roberto Felipe Maestas Legacy Award at the event. Washington State Supreme Court Justice Mary Yu presented a scholarship for students. Each of the students received $1,000. (end)
