Raj Manhas, superintendent of North Thurston Public Schools, was one of three honorees at the 2014 Distinguished Leader Awards hosted by Leadership Thurston County on Feb. 26. Recently, he his three-year contract extension was approved by the school board. Manhas was superintendent of Seattle Schools from 2003 to 2006.
“Student test scores are improving, graduation rates are strong, and voters in North Thurston Public Schools recently approved a 20-year, $175 million bond measure to remodel five schools and build a new middle school,” according to The Olympian. “All of those things added up to job security for Superintendent Raj Manhas.”
The superintendent’s contract now runs through June 30, 2017. Manhas’ annual salary is $185,668, plus expenses. (end)
