Australian media mogul Rupert Murdoch and his third wife, Wendi Deng Murdoch, have reached a divorce settlement. It was reported that Deng will keep the couple’s $44 million apartment in New York because it is the home to their two daughters, Chloe, 10, and Grace, 11.
According to news reports, the couple ended their 14-year marriage on Nov. 20 with a handshake. Neither spoke to reporters, but later they released a statement. “We are pleased to announce that we have reached an amicable settlement of all matters relating to our divorce. We move forward with mutual respect and a shared interest in the health and happiness of our two daughters. We will not comment on this any further.”
Murdoch, chairman and CEO of News Corp and 21st Century Fox, met Deng in 1998 while he was on a business trip to China, where she worked for a division of News Corporation. They married a year later in New York Harbor aboard Murdoch’s 155-foot yacht, the Morning Glory.
The boat has been put up for sale.
Murdoch is 82 years old. Deng is 44. Murdoch filed for divorce from Deng in June. (end)
