Bring ideas to Hing Hay Park open meeting

November 15, 2013 By Northwest Asian Weekly

The public is invited to share ideas and offer input into plans for the renovation and expansion of Hing Hay Park at a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 21, from 6–8 p.m. at the International District/Chinatown Community Center, 719 8th Ave. S., in Seattle.

The project extends the park at the corner of Maynard Ave. S. and S. King Street to include the site of the current post office on 6th Ave. The parks department acquired the post office in 2007. The post office will keep operating at its current location while conducting a public process to relocate within the International District.

The 2008 Parks and Green Spaces Levy allocates $3 million to plan, design and construct the Hing Hay expansion.

Seattle Parks staff will be at the meeting to discuss the project and answer questions. Future public meetings are planned for Jan. 21 and Feb. 25. (end)

For more information about the project, visit www.seattle.gov/parks/projects/hing_hay/ or email kim.baldwin@seattle.govor, or call 206-615-0810.
