Nikkei Concerns was awarded $5,000 from the Symetra Community Spirit Grant Challenge, held through Facebook. Five nonprofits had competed for votes to win a $15,000 grant, but in the end Symetra chose to award all five a $5,000 grant each, due to “a number of block voting irregularities that made it impossible to designate a single winner,” the Bellevue-based financial company stated on the contest website.
Nikkei Concerns will use their winnings for its Nikkei Horizons EnhanceFitness program.
The other winners were My Sister’s Place; National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Greater Northwest Chapter; Starlight Children’s Foundation Northwest; and Summit Assistance Dogs. (end)
